How To Make Great Content For IGTV
IGTV is Instagrams television ‘channel’ that rolled out on the 20th June 2018. It was designed to allow users to upload content that was more than 60 seconds long, in hope that it would bring more traffic into the app. After its integration into the Instagram App, it had a rocky beginning with not alot of people utilising the new feature. However, with vertical video becoming more relevant, there is still hope for it to become bigger and better than it has been for the past 2 years. Although it is still not massively popular, there is still an audience meaning there are still opportunities for digital marketers.
Through using IGTV, you are able to address new and existing followers in a newer and more in depth way. It is the perfect marketing tool to get users invested in your brand and product as there are no limits to what you can create. Even better, the whole process, right from filming all the way through to posting can be done via your phone.
There are endless types of content that can work on IGTV, however, there are some types that will get you more engagement and buzz than others. First of all, you can show the full process of how your products are made (from the idea all the way through to the end of production) or how your business works. Through doing this, your audience will get an insight into what goes into creating a product or brand which can make followers more excited about new things being launched. Showing how your business works or tours of your office can also give a great insight into what day to day life is like for your employees.
Host Q&A sessions and interviews with experts. Ask your followers to send in some questions they have about your brand or a certain product! It will connect you to your followers and give them a further insight into the processes that are implemented in your business. Interviewing experts can give a great insight into how the industry works, challenges they may face and the best part of their job - again, you can ask your followers for things they'd like to know!
Give tutorials on how to use certain products by highlighting certain features consumers may not know exist! You could even repost some user-generated product to let your audience see how the product performs when it is in use!
Do’s and Don’ts for IGTV
Use relevant keywords in the description and keep your video title to a maximum of 20.
Use the ideal aspect ratio (9:16) in order to get the best viewing experience
Make content that is longer than 3 minutes in order to make the most of the feature
Involve your audience in the videos and make a posting schedule so you never fall behind!
Reshare any YouTube content without adjusting it to fit the IGTV ratios. This includes using horizontal video! Flip the video 90 degrees in order to maintain a suitable ratio and ask users to flip their phones when watching so that they get an enjoyable experience.
Break the aesthetics of your feed! Why? Because a preview of IGTV is posted into your feed so you don’t want it to look out of place or lost amongst your other content!
We hope these tips helped you in creating some new IGTV content for this year! Remember to share content regularly, make it a meaningful length and get your followers involved. Get on IGTV sooner rather than later as you could lose out on new customers!
